Alright, so here's the first class in the 4 part series.

In this class I show how I prepare the lineart for colouring and then lay down the flats.

I hope everyone can follow it and let me know if there's something I missed or could describe better.

Good tutorial but there is the easy and quick way doing separate layers (characters and background) using Mask Mode. Do you know it?

You've got a layer BG (Characters and BG in one layer flatten)called "Lineart Below"
1. Make a new layer call "Lineart Over"
2. Go to "Lineart Below"(BG)Select everything(Ctrl +A)and copy it(Ctrl+C)
3. Got to "Lineart Over" fill in Black color.
4. Go to Mask Mode
5. Past Everything (Ctrl + V)
6 . Go to Normal Mode.
Delete what you selected (canc or del)
Deselect everything (Ctrl +D)
Delete "Lineart Below" layer
You've got one transparent layer with Lineart and no BG

Enjoy and good Luck!
